AirportThe Rock Springs - Sweetwater County Airport is
located 7 miles east of Rock Springs, Wyoming. The
topography of the airport area is generally rough and
rugged. The airport sits on top of a mesa
surrounded by steep bluffs. The ground elevation
in the airport area ranges from approximately 6,100 feet
to about 10,000 feet. The airport does not have a
control tower. It does have a white/blue 36 inch
rotating beacon on top of a 50 foot tower. Pilot
controlled lighting is on 122.8.
RunwaysThe airport consists of two runways:
9/27 and 3/21. Runway 9/27 is 10,000
feet long and 150 feet wide. The magnetic bearing
of this runway is 89° 52' 30". The elevation at
the start of runway 9 is 6728 feet. The beginning
of runway 27 has an elevation of 6760
feet.
Runway 3/21 is 5223 feet long and 75
feet wide. The magnetic bearing of this runway is 32°
07' 30". Runway 3 starts at an elevation of 6730
feet while runway 21 starts at 6744 feet.
